An early Sunday morning fire caused more than $1 million in damages to the Fairwinds Treatment Center in Clearwater, according to investigators.

Firefighters were called to the addiction treatment center at 1569 S. Fort Harrison Ave. shortly after 5 a.m. Sunday, Clearwater Fire & Rescue said in a news release. Seventeen residents and five staff members were able to evacuate, and no injuries were reported.

More than 20 units from Clearwater and surrounding areas responded to battle the three-alarm blaze. Photos show extensive damage to the building’s roof and interior.

An initial investigation determined the fire was accidental and likely caused by an electrical issue with an industrial freezer, the news release states. No further information was immediately released.
